The Opportunity
Budgeting tools describe what has already been spent. They rarely help at the moment a decision is made, when a cheaper equivalent option would matter most.
The Product Concept
A discovery-led budgeting concept that pairs spending context with comparison of lower-cost alternatives, feeding insight back into the wider ecosystem.
My Role
Product strategist and UX architect. I ran the problem framing, defined the user journeys and information architecture, and produced the concept interface.

Key Features
Comparison view
Alternatives presented next to the current choice, not in a separate tool.
Affordability context
Decision support framed by the user's own budget rather than generic advice.
Ecosystem hand-off
Insights designed to connect with other ShapGenius tools.
Challenges and Decisions
Avoiding another dashboard
The concept deliberately avoids charts-first design and starts from a decision the user is about to make.
Maintaining design consistency
Reused ecosystem tokens and components so a new concept did not require a new visual language.
What I Learned
- · Framing the moment of decision is more valuable than more reporting.
- · A concept is worth validating on paper before any implementation cost.
Current Status and Next Steps
This is at concept validation. User journeys and interface direction are defined; no functional application has been built yet.
